Do You Have Something to Give?

What does freedom mean to you?

For many people, freedom means doing whatever they want without explanation.
From the perspective of Gestalt therapy, however, freedom always comes with responsibility.

You are free… and responsible for your own actions.
And only yours.

Freedom doesn’t mean separation

This understanding was deeply liberating for me.
Growing up, I felt responsible for the emotions of those around me —my mother, my sister, my family— and I ended up carrying burdens that weren’t mine.

Realising that my only responsibility is my own life felt like breathing deeply for the first time.

But that doesn’t mean disconnection.
Freedom doesn’t mean isolating ourselves in self-interest.
It means having awareness of others —being able to choose to contribute, support, and connect… not out of duty, but from conviction.

How do you relate to the world?

We often think that being part of something bigger requires self-sacrifice.
But there are many forms of commitment.
You don’t have to be on the front lines.
Sometimes a few hours, a gesture, a small yet meaningful contribution is enough.

Each person finds their own way.
What matters is knowing that you have something to give.

What can you give that isn’t money? This question might be more transformative than it seems.

Your time, your listening, your knowledge, your presence, your creativity…
There’s a phrase that’s been echoing in my head:
“He is so poor, all he has is money.”

And I know that you —like me— have much more than that.

You are not less than you seem —you are more than you believe

We live surrounded by tools, resources, and skills that we often take for granted.
Did you know you carry in your pocket a device more powerful than the computer that sent us to the moon?

And did you know your mind, your heart, your emotions, and your presence can also change the world —even if it’s just one person’s world?

Discovering what you can give is also discovering who you are

Gestalt therapy isn’t just a path of personal healing.
It’s also an invitation to see the light already within you that’s worth sharing.
To discover your power to give and to transform —right from your everyday life.

If you’re ready to reconnect with your value and your ability to contribute from who you are, this process is for you.

Do you want to keep exploring?

If this topic resonates with you, you might be interested in opening up space to talk about it in a session. Each process is unique, and it can be helpful to pause, reflect, and put words to what you’re experiencing.
