Today I read a line in the newspaper:
“Don’t let reality ruin a good story.”
It’s the perfect basis for understanding how fake news is born.
And even though the critique was aimed at journalism, I couldn’t help but wonder:
How often do we do this in our own lives?
Reality is often the first victim of our dreams
We all dream.
And at some point, we’ve all pursued a dream without checking if it still made sense.
The problem isn’t dreaming.
The problem is not asking ourselves if the price we’re paying to sustain that dream still aligns with who we are today.
Are you chasing a dream that’s no longer yours?
Sometimes we keep fighting for an ideal we created years ago.
And it’s hard to see that we’re no longer that same person.
- What you wanted at twenty may not serve you at forty.
- What you tolerated then, may now feel heavy.
- What once felt essential might no longer be.
Yet we keep pushing.
Because letting go is hard.
Because updating is hard.
Because accepting change is hard.

What’s the price of that dream?
It’s not always money.
Sometimes it’s your energy.
Your peace.
Your health.
Your relationships.
And when we don’t stop to check what we’re giving up,
we may end up far from ourselves.
Your dreams must evolve with you
It’s not about giving up your goals.
It’s about listening to yourself deeply enough to know whether they still reflect who you are.
Sometimes, personal growth isn’t about achieving more —
it’s about realising that today, you no longer want what you once did.
And that too, is maturity.
